Exports of dairy products from Ukraine increased by 8% in volume terms in 2024

In 2024, Ukraine increased exports of dairy products to 117.73 thousand tonnes (+8% compared to 2023), worth USD 295.03 million (+14%). Total exports exceeded imports by USD 4.73 million, according to the Association of Milk Producers, citing analyst Giorgi Kukhaleishvili.

Growth factors

1. Shortage of dairy fats on the global market.
2. Increased prices for butter and other commodities.
3. The devaluation of the hryvnia, which made Ukrainian goods competitive on the international market.

In December, export volumes decreased to 7.23 thousand tonnes (-22% compared to November). This was due to a lull in the global market during the New Year holidays and lower butter prices in the US, Europe and New Zealand. As a result, the foreign trade balance in December was negative at USD 21.53 million.
