When the average daily temperature drops to -7…-9 degrees, it is possible to apply power outage schedules, but their volume will remain minimal. This was stated by Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Research Centre, at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Centre.
According to him, the cold weather is causing an increase in electricity consumption, which requires additional capacity to compensate. At the same time, the current generation is already operating at full capacity, which may lead to temporary supply restrictions.
“If the average daily temperature drops to -7…-9 degrees, we will most likely have to introduce minimum restrictions, including for the public. But they will be within half a queue, maximum – a queue,” Kharchenko explained.
He also stressed that significant power outages are not expected unless there are new attacks on the energy infrastructure.
