This week, selling prices for potatoes in Ukraine rose by 22%. The main reason for this is that retailers and wholesalers have started stockpiling before the New Year holidays. This was reported by EastFruit on Friday, 13 December.

Farmers are currently offering potatoes at prices ranging from 22 to 30 UAH/kg. Demand for the vegetable has grown significantly, prompting farmers to increase prices. Experts predict a further gradual increase in prices, but do not expect any significant jumps.

This year’s potato price is already 85% higher than in the same period in 2022. This is due to a significant reduction in potato production in Ukraine.

Experts note that holiday demand has had a significant impact on the current situation, as retailers seek to ensure stable supplies of the vegetable during the winter holidays.

Experts believe that although the price of potatoes will continue to rise, the pace of price growth will be moderate. At the same time, buyers are advised to be prepared for higher costs for this basic product in the New Year.
