On Sunday, 17 November, Russia launched another massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, severely damaging equipment at thermal power plants. This was reported by DTEK Group on its Telegram channel.

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

“After the end of the shelling, the company’s employees promptly began to eliminate its consequences and restore the equipment,” the company said in a statement.

Record shelling of the energy sector

This is the eighth massive attack on DTEK’s energy facilities in 2024. In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, the company’s thermal power plants have been shelled more than 190 times.

Despite numerous strikes, the power sector continues to restore electricity supplies and operate under constant risk.

Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in an attempt to create electricity shortages and sow panic among the population. Ukraine, in turn, is strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure and increasing international pressure on the aggressor.
