South Korea provides budgetary assistance to Ukraine for the first time

South Korea has transferred $100 million in budgetary aid to Ukraine, which will be used to strengthen the social sector. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.

Details of assistance

This is the first financial support of its kind from South Korea to meet the needs of Ukrainian society in times of war.

“This is the first budgetary aid from our Korean partners to be transferred to support the social sector,” Shmyhal said.

In 2024, the governments of the two countries signed an agreement that provides for the possibility of attracting funding totalling up to USD 2.1 billion.

Visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Korea

A Ukrainian delegation headed by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov is currently visiting South Korea. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations, discuss security issues and further financial cooperation.
