Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the agreement signed with the US government on strategic cooperation in the field of subsoil use could become a key investment breakthrough for Ukraine, attracting tens of billions of dollars in the coming years. This was reported by Ukrinform.
“The signed agreement is not just a political gesture, but a real foundation for large-scale investments in the mining industry. We are talking about critical minerals, without which a green transition and the development of high technologies are impossible,” Shmyhal said.
We are talking about developing projects for the extraction of lithium, titanium, rare earth metals and other strategic resources. Ukraine has significant potential in this area, which has so far been largely untapped due to war, corruption, and investment risks.
According to the Prime Minister, the implementation of this agreement will not only strengthen the economy, but will also contribute to the energy independence of Ukraine and NATO partners, who are seeking to reduce dependence on China for critical materials.
Shmyhal also stressed that American partners are already actively interested in the first phase of joint projects, and some of them may start by the end of the year.
