In 2024, Ukraine set a historical record for sugar exports, supplying 746.3 thousand tonnes of products to foreign markets for a total of $419 million. This was reported by the press service of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine Ukrtsukor.
A record figure for the years of independence
“This is the highest figure for sugar exports in the history of our association’s statistics,” Ukrtsukr said. The industry’s success is due to the high quality of its products and the expansion of its markets.
Key sales markets
Ukrainian sugar was actively exported both to the European Union (40% of exports) and to world markets (60%). The main buyers were the countries of the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) and North Macedonia.
This achievement strengthened Ukraine’s position as one of the world’s leading sugar exporters.
Outlook for 2025
Industry experts say that the success of 2024 opens up new opportunities for further growth in production and exports. The main plans include expanding cooperation with European partners and developing new markets in Asia.
The Ukrainian sugar industry demonstrates that even in difficult economic conditions, the country is able to set records and strengthen its export potential.
