In October 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia JSC carried 2.3 million passengers on long-distance routes, 100 thousand more than in September, when passenger traffic traditionally declines after the summer season. This was reported by the company’s press service on Facebook, Time Ukraine Israel reports.
The most popular train service in October was train No. 128 between Zaporizhzhia and Lviv, which was used by 53 thousand passengers. The high-speed trains to Przemyśl, No. 705/706 and No. 715/716, took second and third place, carrying 51 thousand and 48 thousand passengers respectively. The Lviv-Kyiv-Lviv route was also in the highest demand, with 125 thousand passengers travelling on it.
Since December 2023, more than 100,000 servicemen and their families have used the ticket booking service for military personnel, including 16,800 seats allocated in October.
In 10 months of 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia’s passenger traffic increased by 12.7% year-on-year to 23.3 million people. Also in October, passengers bought 532 thousand servings of tea and coffee on trains, which is several thousand more than in September.
The company is currently completing the preparation of rolling stock and infrastructure for the winter season. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia trains have evacuated more than 4 million people from the frontline regions.
