As of 1 November 2024, sugar factories in Vinnytsia region produced 164,000 tonnes of sugar, the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration (VRA) reported, Ukrinform reports . All five factories in the region are operating at full capacity, having already processed 1.26 million tonnes of sugar raw materials.
This year’s production is slightly lower than last year: as of the same date in 2023, 179 thousand tonnes of sugar were produced. Sugar beet harvesting in the region is ongoing, with 77% of the area already planted. This season’s yield is 421.6 centners per hectare, down from 476.8 centners per hectare last year.
In total, as of 25 October, Ukrainian farmers harvested 8.3 million tonnes of sugar beet from an area of 170.6 thousand hectares (or 66% of the total sown area).
