President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasised that the economy is a central component of Ukraine’s domestic Strengthening Plan aimed at restoring and enhancing the country’s resilience. He made the statement in his address to the participants of the Kyiv International Economic Forum, noting the importance of involving business in the development of this strategic document.
“The Ukraine we want for our children must achieve a lasting peace, complete all reconstruction tasks and use every connection with the global world as efficiently as possible. This is our joint work, and the state can achieve ambitious goals only together with social forces and business,” Zelenskyy said. He thanked business for supporting Ukraine, noting that every company and every job saved is a contribution to the country’s future.
Zelenskyy stressed that the new plan will provide for economic development through deregulation, stimulating competition and mobilising the potential of entrepreneurship, which, in his words, is an “internal guarantee of security” for Ukraine.
“We are working on an internal plan to strengthen Ukraine, where the economy will be one of the key elements. Thanks to deregulation and normal competition, we will be able to strengthen economic strength and Ukrainian sovereignty, while enhancing our defence capabilities,” he added.
The President also noted that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko is leading the work with business to formulate the economic strategy of the Plan. “The strategic vision of entrepreneurs will be taken into account,” Zelenskyy stressed.
Zelenskyy addressed the forum online on his way to Budapest, where he is attending the European Political Community Summit.
