This morning, July 11, a Fly Dubai flight from the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport, Pakistan. Two Israelis were on board, causing serious concern due to strained relations between Israel and Pakistan.

Pakistan does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel and is hostile to the Jewish state. Israeli security services advise citizens to refrain from visiting Pakistan.

The flight was forced to change its route due to a sharp deterioration in the health of one of the passengers. The plane was on the ground for several hours, and all this time the passengers remained on board.

The Israelis, finding themselves in an enemy country, contacted their relatives, who immediately informed the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the situation. Expectations of the worst, fortunately, were not confirmed: the Pakistani authorities did not detain the Israeli citizens, and the plane soon continued on its way to its final destination.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel commented on the incident: “On the night of July 11, a plane flying from the UAE to Sri Lanka made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport (Pakistan). Two Israeli citizens were on board the plane. The operative headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Israeli Affairs Abroad were informed about this, and they ensured the safety of citizens in a difficult situation. After some time, the plane continued its flight.”

The Time Ukraine Israel news portal, citing a Vesti.co.il source, reported that this incident reminded of the importance of operational communication and coordination between various authorities in ensuring the safety of citizens anywhere in the world.
