French President Emmanuel Macron and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban
French President Emmanuel Macron will receive Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday evening. The visit comes ahead of the summits of the European Political Community and the European Union scheduled for 7-8 November in Budapest, AFP reports.
According to the French presidency, the meeting is part of the preparations for these summits, given that Hungary currently holds the EU Council presidency.
During the working dinner, the leaders will also discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, including energy, defence and transport.
According to AFP, Macron regularly meets with Orban, who is a difficult partner within the EU, before key European gatherings. In June, the two leaders also met at the Elysee Palace ahead of Hungary’s presidency of the EU Council.
