Restrictions for Farmers and Residents
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have prohibited farmers from approaching plantations and fields near the border with Lebanon. The Kiryat Shmona municipality has urged residents to stay in safe places and shelters.
Kiryat Shmona Mayor Avichai Stern has called on all residents to be vigilant, noting that the situation is challenging and Hezbollah’s reaction will impact the city. Similar recommendations apply to those who have been evacuated from Kiryat Shmona and are now in Tiberias, Tel Aviv, Eilat, and other parts of Israel. “Our residents are accustomed to such situations and possess the composure and calmness to handle them. We will manage this as well,” he added.
Restrictions in Other Cities
In the Mate-Asher Regional Council in Western Galilee, restrictions have been imposed on gatherings and events for residents who have not been evacuated. Public swimming pools and sports facilities are closed to prevent crowds of young people.
In Katzrin, a decision was also made to close the local country club, ban the use of soccer fields, and prohibit visits to the park and zoo.
Acre Mayor Amitai Ben-Shlush canceled the scheduled youth events for the evening of July 31. “They will not take place today. As the head of the municipal administration, I want to sleep peacefully and be sure that there is no risk,” he explained in a video message shared on social media.
IDF Position and Situation for Farmers
The IDF press service stated that there are currently no changes to the rear defense orders. The military promised that any clarifying decisions will be promptly communicated to the public through IDF and rear service media platforms.
Farmers with plantations in the border zone are facing additional losses due to the new escalation, as they are prohibited from working their lands. Despite the strict restrictions, some farms continue their operations. Ofer Moshkovich, responsible for avocado plantations in Kibbutz Misgav Am, remarked, “The situation is quite unpleasant, but as long as there are no air raid sirens, we continue working. Nothing will stop us.”
He also emphasized that “Hezbollah will react and will still be present near the border.” “No one wants war, but we need to find a formula and solution that will push Hezbollah out of the border area and allow residents to return to their homes,” Moshkovich added.
As tensions rise in northern Israel, local authorities continue to monitor the situation and take necessary measures to ensure public safety.
