Former US President Donald Trump may take radical steps against Iran if Tehran continues to delay the signing of a new nuclear deal. This was stated by Israeli expert on American politics Dr Shai Har Zvi in a commentary to Maariv.
According to him, for Trump, the Iranian issue is fundamental and strategically important, and if he returns to power, the United States may adopt a much tougher policy than before.
“Trump is ready to use the entire arsenal of pressure on Iran, from tough sanctions to direct military intervention, if Tehran continues to sabotage the negotiation process,” Har Zvi said.
The expert stressed that Trump’s foreign policy strategy is based on a show of force, not diplomatic compromise. Diplomacy for him is only a tool that is used only if the United States has a complete advantage.
“For Trump, diplomacy is a continuation of force, not an alternative,” Shai Har Zvi summed up.
This statement came amid growing tensions over Iran and its nuclear programme. Washington is increasingly talking about the need to rethink its approach to Tehran, especially in the context of instability in the Middle East.
