Explosions and fire in the centre of Moscow: first details

Today, on 23 April 2025, three powerful explosions occurred in the Moscow City business centre in the Russian capital, followed by a massive fire. This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel. Thick puffs of black smoke rose above the skyscrapers of the complex, which is confirmed by numerous videos and photos of eyewitnesses published on social media.

According to the Baza Telegram channel, the fire occurred at a construction site in the Moscow City district. Preliminary reports suggest that one of the sources of the explosion could have been a car that exploded in the underground part of the complex. The exact cause of the incident has not yet been established, and information about the victims is being clarified.

According to RIA Novosti, there is heavy smoke in the area of the National Centre “Russia” located in Moscow City. Emergency services, including fire brigades, are working at the scene. Access to the Dolyvoy Tsentr metro station remains open despite the emergency.

Eyewitnesses continue to share footage showing flames and thick smoke enveloping high-rise buildings. The situation remains tense, with authorities urging residents and visitors to remain calm and follow the instructions of emergency services.

Update: According to preliminary data, a car explosion in the underground part of Moscow City could have been one of the causes of the fire. Details are being clarified.
