In Tel Aviv, police are investigating an incident involving the launch of flares into the territory of Wolfson Hospital. According to Ynet, the rockets were fired from a nearby sports arena, where fans of the Hapoel Tel Aviv football club were at the time.

A fan’s pyrotechnic attack

The incident took place near the Wolfson Stadium, which serves as a training ground for football players. It was from this location that unknown persons fired flares that landed on the territory of the hospital of the same name. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the explosives were promptly defused by sappers.

Police officers from the Jaffa police station joined the investigation and, after studying the situation, went to the stadium to clarify the circumstances.

Resistance and detention

During the arrest attempt, the fans actively resisted. As a result, two people were detained, and the pyrotechnics used during the ‘shelling’ were seized. Later, the number of detainees increased to five. One of them even spat at a police officer, the source said.

All five are currently being questioned at the police station. Law enforcement officers have also seized video footage from surveillance cameras to establish the exact circle of people involved in the dangerous incident.

Police: the situation is under control

The police stressed that such actions are unacceptable and pose a real threat to the safety of civilians. The investigation is ongoing, and the perpetrators are expected to be brought to justice.

The Tel Aviv incident was yet another example of how fan extreme goes beyond the stadium – and threatens people’s lives.
