Over the past 24 hours, on 23 March, 140 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defence Forces and Russian invaders were recorded at the frontline. Ukrainian defenders are not only holding back the enemy’s offensive, but are also inflicting heavy losses on them. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a morning report on 24 March.
The Ukrainian army’s aviation, missile forces and artillery struck:
– 13 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and equipment,
– 3 UAV control points,
– 1 air defence system,
– 3 artillery systems,
– 1 other important object of Russian forces.
Hostile attacks and massive shelling
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army carried out 74 air strikes, dropping 97 guided bombs on Ukrainian positions and populated areas. Russian troops also carried out 6457 attacks, including 145 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 2,350 kamikaze drones.
Among the settlements shelled and attacked were Petrushivka, Krasnopillia, Okip, Turya, Ugroydy, Novodmitrivka and Prokhody (Sumy region), Velyka Shapkivka (Kharkiv region), Pokrovsk, Oleksandropil, Nova Poltavka, Malynivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Hrodivka (Donetsk region), as well as Novodarivka, Zaliznychne and Mala Tokmachka (Zaporizhzhya region).
Situation in the following areas
– Kharkiv sector: the enemy tried to break through the defences in the direction of Vovchansk, but to no avail.
– Kupyansk sector: 5 attacks in the areas of Zahryzove, Petropavlivka and Bohuslavka were all repelled.
– In the Liman sector, the enemy made 11 attempts to advance near Yampolivka, Novove, Novomykhailivka and Zelena Dolyna.
– In the Siverskyi sector, five attacks were repelled in the areas of Bilohorivka, Ivan-Darivka and Verkhnekamianske.
– Kramatorsk sector: two firefights near Orikhovo Vasylivka and Chasovyi Yar.
– Toretsk sector: 17 enemy attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Shcherbynivka and Diliyivka.
– The Pokrovsk sector was the hottest, with 61 attacks repelled in the areas of Panteleymonivka, Vodiane Druhe, Yelizavetivka, Andriivka, Bohdanivka and others.
– Novopavlivka sector: 8 attacks near Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Vesele and Skudne.
– Huliaypillia direction: 3 attacks were repelled near Novopil and Novosilka.
– Orikhivske and Prydniprovske directions: no hostilities were registered.
– Volyn and Polissya sectors: no offensive groups were detected.
Operations outside Ukraine
The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue operations deep behind enemy lines. In the Kursk region of Russia, 12 Russian air strikes were recorded, during which 14 guided bombs were dropped. The enemy also fired 292 times, 5 of which were from multiple rocket launchers. Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks.
The situation at the front remains tense. Despite the enemy’s massive attacks, Ukrainian soldiers demonstrate endurance and professionalism and give a decisive rebuff to the Russian invaders.
