The situation at the front remains tense as Russian troops continue massive attacks, using their numerical superiority in manpower and equipment. Over the past 24 hours, 217 combat engagements were recorded in different areas of the frontline, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its morning report on 26 December.
The hottest destinations:
- Pokrovske direction: Ukrainian forces stopped 57 enemy attacks in the areas of Zelene Pole, Myrolyubivka, Vozdvyzhenka and other localities. Russians continue to amass forces for new attacks.
- Kurakhove sector: Thirty-one attacks were repelled, with the most intense fighting taking place near Petropavlivka, Yasenove and Kurakhove. Some Ukrainian positions were destroyed due to intense fire.
- Vremivsk direction: The enemy carried out 35 assault operations in the areas of Vremivka, Blahodatne and Velyka Novosilka.
- Liman direction: Russian troops attacked 26 times, attempting to break through the defences in the areas of Novoyehorivka, Serebryansky forest and other points.
Attempts at breakthroughs in other areas:
- Up to a dozen attacks were recorded in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Siversk, Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Orikhivsk sectors in each area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to effectively hold back the enemy, inflicting significant losses.
Successes of Ukrainian troops:
Missile troops and artillery of the Defence Forces hit an enemy command post and a UAV control facility. Ukrainian forces are also continuing operations in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where the enemy fired 440 times over the past day.
General Staff comment:
“Despite the numerical superiority, the enemy suffers significant losses and does not achieve significant success. Our defenders continue to heroically hold the line and repel enemy attacks on all fronts,” the General Staff said in a statement.
Ukrainian forces continue to fight for every metre of their homeland, demonstrating courage and resilience even in the most difficult conditions.
