Ukraine will soon receive 60 missiles from Germany for the Iris-T SLM air defence system. This was reported by dpa on 15 January. The cost of the missiles is about 60 million euros. These missiles are being transferred from the Bundeswehr warehouses as part of the agreements reached during the visit of German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to Kyiv.

The minister noted that the German government has prepared a large package of military aid for Ukraine worth 3 billion euros, but internal negotiations on financing the aid are still ongoing due to budgetary challenges associated with the collapse of the government coalition in Germany.

Boris Pistorius also assured that regardless of the political landscape after the upcoming elections, Germany will continue to provide reliable and vigorous support to Ukraine.

During his visit to Kyiv, Pistorius spoke about Germany’s efforts to increase military assistance to Ukraine, including the prospects for joint defence projects with countries such as Poland, France, Italy and the United Kingdom. Particular attention is paid to expanding defence capabilities in Ukraine and sharing best practices between partner countries.

Pistorius’s visit underscores Germany’s commitment as a leading NATO power in Europe to actively support Ukraine in repelling external aggression and contributing to the stabilisation of the region.
