Hamas calls on Arab League not to support change of power in Gaza

Gaza, Palestine – The Hamas terrorist group has expressed dissatisfaction with the position of the Arab League (AL) on the possibility of a change of power in the Gaza Strip. This is reported by the Telegram channel “Alexey Zheleznov.

Hamas’ reaction to the Arab League’s statements

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem criticised the remarks of the Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League, Hosam Zaki, who called Hamas’ potential withdrawal from power a step “in the interests of the Palestinian people”.

According to Qassem, Hamas is showing “flexibility” in political and administrative issues of governing the sector, participating in negotiations, in particular with Egypt. He also recalled that the group agreed to the establishment of a national unity government and supported Cairo’s initiative to create a Local Community Support Committee.

“All decisions on the future of Gaza should be made solely on the basis of national consensus without external interference, including the influence of Israel and the United States,”Kassem stressed.

A warning to the Arab League

In its statement, Hamas called on the Arab League not to support initiatives that, in the group’s opinion, could threaten the “security of Arab countries”. They stressed the need to “preserve the sovereignty” of the Palestinian people and to avoid interference in the internal affairs of Gaza.

Hostage negotiations

In addition, Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanu announced the group’s intention to complete the first stage of the hostage exchange deal, despite Israel’s tough stance. According to him, Hamas will not consider any demands to disarm the militants or eliminate the group’s leaders at any stage of the negotiations.

“We will not allow any external influence to dictate conditions that are contrary to our interests. The hostage exchange must be completed in accordance with an agreement that is beneficial to the Palestinian people,”said Al-Qanu.

Tensions in Hamas’s relations with the Arab world

Analysts point out that the Arab League’s criticism could lead to an even greater rift between Hamas and the leading Arab states, which are increasingly calling for stabilisation of the situation in Gaza and the establishment of a government capable of ensuring peace and security in the region.
