On Easter Saturday, 20 April, at 6 a.m., the Holy Fire arrived in Ukraine through the Ustyluh international checkpoint in Volyn. This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The shrine, which annually descends in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem on the eve of the Resurrection of Christ, arrived from Warsaw. Border guards of the Volyn Detachment promptly ensured its quick and safe passage across the state border.

The fire has already spread throughout Ukraine – to churches, monasteries, parishes and military chaplains. In all regions, Ukrainians have the opportunity to light candles from the Holy Fire and bring this light to their homes, to the front line, hospitals and places of service.

“May this fire become a light of faith and strength for each of us. May it warm the hearts of Ukrainians at home, at the front, in temporary occupation and abroad. And may peace, tranquillity and victory come to every home with it,” the border guards said in their address.

This year, the Holy Fire united Ukrainians in times of trial and war, becoming a symbol of spiritual resilience, hope and light that does not fade even in the darkest of times.
