At least seven people were injured in the capital, and two more were injured in the Bucha district. Two people died in fires caused by falling debris. Destruction and fires were reported in several districts of the city and region.
Casualties and destruction in the capital
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that seven residents were injured in the attack. One of the victims was hospitalised, while the others were treated on the spot.
In Dniprovskyi district, the wreckage of a downed UAV hit a residential building, causing a fire on the upper floors of a nine-storey building. The fire covered 100 square metres and spread to the roof. Rescuers evacuated 27 people during the firefighting operations, but one woman died. The debris also damaged a non-residential building in the area – a catering facility.
In Podilskyi district, debris falling on a high-rise building caused a fire on the 20th floor of a 25-storey building. The fire was extinguished over an area of 20 square metres. In the Holosiivskyi district, debris fell into an industrial area, causing a fire in a 4-storey office and warehouse building with an area of 2,000 sq m. The fire is currently being extinguished. In addition, a caravan and trucks on an area of 60 sq m caught fire nearby. One more person died at the site.
In Desnianskyi district, a fire broke out in an open area in a forest belt, and in Shevchenkivskyi district, two cars were damaged. Debris was also seen in other parts of the city, including on the 6th floor of a 16-storey building, where a window, floor and ceiling of an apartment were damaged.
The situation in the Kyiv region
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration (RMA) reported that two people were injured in a UAV attack in Bucha district: a woman born in 1997 and a man born in 1976. Three private houses and a car were damaged in the same area. In Fastiv district, another private house was destroyed, and in Brovary district, rescuers extinguished a fire at an enterprise.
Work of emergency services
Rescuers and emergency services are working at all the sites. The State Emergency Service (SES) noted that some fires have already been extinguished, but work is still ongoing at several sites. In particular, in the Holosiivskyi district, firefighting is complicated by the large area of the fire.
