The Yemeni Houthi rebel group has claimed responsibility for launching two ballistic missiles towards Israel, saying that one of them was aimed at Ben Gurion International Airport and the other at a military facility in Tel Aviv. This was reported by the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel.
The statement was released by Houthi spokesman Yahya Sari, who stressed that the attack was part of a broader campaign against Israel. “This is just the beginning,” Sari said, threatening more attacks.
The group also claims to have attacked the USS Truman aircraft carrier using missiles and drones. Details of the results of this attack remain unknown.
Against the backdrop of these statements, former US President Donald Trump commented on the situation, stressing that the US Air Force’s powerful strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen had already yielded results. According to him, the group has suffered “unprecedented losses” and is now forced to seek a peaceful settlement.
Analysts warn that the situation in the Middle East is escalating, and such actions by the Houthis indicate their growing ambitions and desire to influence regional dynamics far beyond Yemen. The strike on Tel Aviv, even if it was successfully intercepted, is seen as a dangerous escalation.
