On Friday morning, 28 March 2025, Israeli Defence Forces(IDF), police and Border Guard forces successfully foiled an arms smuggling attempt in the Jordan Valley, near the border with Jordan. The operation was yet another indication of the vigilance of Israeli forces in the fight against arms trafficking in the region.

During the raid, two bags containing 12 Taurus pistols, 25 ammunition magazines and long-barreled weapon components were seized. The discovery indicates that the smugglers planned to transfer a significant arsenal that could be used to escalate violence or terrorist acts.

The confiscated weapons were handed over to the Northern District Police Department for further investigation. It is not yet known who was behind the smuggling attempt, but law enforcement has already begun a search for those involved. The Jordan Valley, due to its border location, remains one of the “hot” routes for such crimes, forcing Israeli forces to constantly increase control in the area.

This incident highlights the complexity of the situation on Israel’s borders and the importance of coordination between different security agencies. Will the smuggling channels be completely shut down? For now, the answer depends on further police action and the results of the investigation.
