7 April – Israel – On Monday morning, IDF reservists assigned to units in the Central Military District will receive calls and SMS messages from the IDF’s automatic notification system. This was reported by the army’s press service.

Training, not mobilisation

The IDF stresses:

These are only scheduled drills to test the performance of the alert system.

There is no need to report to the bases.

The automatic notification system is a key element of the operational readiness of Israeli reservists. Such tests help to ensure the reliability of communication in the event of a real mobilisation.

Context.

The exercise takes place against the backdrop of a tense situation in the region, particularly in the Central District, which covers Judea, Samaria and the areas around Jerusalem. However, the IDF emphasises:

The signal is not an alarm, but a test. The military command asks the reservists to follow the instructions in the messages.

The IDF continues to maintain combat readiness in all districts, while maintaining the ability to mobilise quickly if necessary.
