Yesterday, 14 April 2025, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) conducted an operation in southern Lebanon, striking Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure. This was reported by the IDF press service. According to the Israeli military, Hezbollah cynically uses civilian infrastructure for terrorist purposes, hiding behind Lebanese civilians as human shields.
“The IDF will resolutely oppose any attempts by Hezbollah to re-establish or strengthen its military presence under the guise of civilian objects,” the army said. Israel stresses that such actions are aimed at protecting its territory and preventing threats from terrorist groups.
Elimination of a key Hamas terrorist
In another statement issued jointly by the IDF and the Israeli General Security Service (ISA), the IDF announced the successful elimination of Mahmoud Ibrahim Hassan Abu Hisira, a senior member of the Hamas terrorist organisation. The operation was conducted a few days ago in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
Abu Hisira, known as the Nuhba terrorist, was a personal assistant to Izz al-Din Haddad, the commander of a Hamas brigade in Gaza. He was actively involved in the group’s activities throughout the war and in the preparation of the 7 October terrorist attack. In addition, Abu Hisira was involved in the attack on 28 July 2014 during Operation Enduring Rock. Then Hamas militants infiltrated Israel through a terrorist tunnel and attacked a guard post in the Nahal Oz area, killing five IDF soldiers: Sergeant Daniel Kedmi, Sergeant Barkai Yishai Shor, Sergeant Erez Sagi, Sergeant Dora Deri and Sergeant Nadav Raymond. Another soldier was also wounded in the attack.
Continuing the fight against terrorism
The IDF and ISA stressed that operations to identify and destroy terrorists will continue to eliminate threats to Israeli civilians. “We remain committed to protecting our citizens and neutralising any attempts by terrorist organisations to destabilise the region,” the IDF said.
These operations underscore Israel’s determination to confront terrorist threats both in the north, from Hezbollah, and in the Gaza Strip, where Hamas continues to operate. The international community is closely monitoring the developments, given the difficult humanitarian situation in the region.
