The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Service (Shabak) have announced the elimination of Mohammed Saleh Mohammed al-Bardawil, a key figure in the Hamas terrorist group’s propaganda apparatus. The operation was carried out over the past week.
According to official information, Bardawil played a central role in the Hamas media machine, systematically spreading disinformation and waging psychological warfare against the Israeli population. Although he was known in Gaza as a journalist, he was in fact an active member of Hamas’ terrorist and incitement infrastructure.
In particular, Bardawil was directly involved in the creation of propaganda videos depicting abducted Israelis in captivity in Gaza. Hamas used such materials as a tool of psychological terror and manipulation of public opinion.
“Despite his public mask as a journalist, Bardawil was an integral part of Hamas’ terrorist mechanism,” the statement said.
The IDF and the Shabak reaffirmed their determination to continue to combat Hamas’s terrorist infrastructure and eliminate any threats to Israeli citizens.
“We will act decisively to protect our people. Anyone involved in terror – with a weapon or a camera – will be found and neutralised,” the statement said.
The operation was the next stage in a large-scale campaign to destroy Hamas’ strategic resources and demonstrates that in a hybrid war, information aggression is no less dangerous than armed aggression.
