The Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, met with the heads of regional councils and communities located in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip. During the meeting, the main conclusions of the investigation into the events of 7 October were presented, as well as steps aimed at improving security in the region. This was reported by the IDF press service.

The discussion was joined by the Commander of the Southern Command, the Commander of the Home Front Command, the Commander of the Gaza Division, representatives of the Israeli Air Force and the Intelligence Agency. They presented the main findings of the investigation and outlined the lessons the IDFhas learned fromthe events of 7 October. The main focus was on the army’s future preparedness and the implementation of changes to enhance security in the western Negev.

Lieutenant General Khalevi thanked the community leaders for participating in the meeting, stressing that an open dialogue between the military and local communities is important to strengthen public trust in the army.

“The IDF will do everything necessary to make the western Negev a safe and prosperous region. In the years to come, this will be a testament to our profound victory,” he stressed.
