The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Security Service prevented an attempted breach of security protocols at the Tel Nof military base. Two civilian contractors attempted to smuggle mobile phones into the base, which could have resulted in a threat of classified data leakage.

According to the IDF press service, under current rules, all contractors are required to hand over their mobile devices before entering military facilities, and their movement on the base is strictly controlled.

Immediate security measures

The violation was discovered during the inspection. As a result, the contractors’ work was immediately suspended, they were removed from the base and handed over to the special services for further investigation.

According to preliminary data, no information was leaked. The military assures that the incident is under control and that the security system is functioning at the proper level.

Expanded investigation into infiltration of IDF facilities

This case took place against the backdrop of a large-scale investigation into violations at military facilities. Earlier, the police and the Ministry of Defence reported the detention of suspects of illegal entry into IDF bases.

A group of contractors who won tenders for infrastructure works are suspected of hiring employees without proper permits to access classified areas.

The investigation is ongoing, and the military leadership is strengthening control over civilian personnel to prevent similar violations in the future.
