Customs officers at the “Malyy Berezny” post on the border with Slovakia discovered almost two thousand packs of contraband cigarettes in the car of a resident of Transcarpathia. During a routine inspection, to which a canine team was involved, the service dog immediately reacted to the smell of tobacco. Despite the driver’s attempt to pass through the “green corridor” without inspection, the customs officers did not believe her words about the absence of hidden goods.

After a thorough inspection of the car, a double bottom was found, where there were 1,947 packs of cigarettes. A protocol was drawn up for violation of customs rules, and the car and contraband goods were seized. The case will be referred to the court for further consideration.
