On the night of 27 March, the Israeli Air Force conducted a strike in southern Lebanon, killing Ahmad Adnan Bajiga, commander of the Radwan battalion of the Hezbollah terrorist group. The strike was carried out in the Derdgaya area, where, according to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), he was hiding.
According to the IDF, Bajiga personally led numerous attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers throughout the war. In particular, in recent months, he has been actively involved in organising attacks on the Israeli rear, posing a direct threat to Israeli citizens.
“The IDF will continue to act decisively to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel and its people,” the IDF press service said.
In response to attacks from the Lebanese side, the Israeli army regularly conducts targeted strikes against Hezbollah facilities, including infrastructure, weapons depots and command staff. The elimination of Bajiga may have both operational and symbolic significance, as the Radwan battalions are considered elite units within the Lebanese group.
