On Friday, 28 March 2025, Israeli journalist Alexei Zheleznov published an alarming message on his Telegram channel that may indicate a new escalation on the Israeli-Lebanese border. According to him, high-ranking Lebanese officials confirmed this in an interview with Al-Manar TV channel, which belongs to the Hezbollah group: “Naim Qassem has approved operations against the Zionist enemy. The operations will begin in the near future”.

This claim, if true, indicates that Hizbullah, the Iranian-backed movement, is preparing for active action against Israel. Naim Qassem, who took over as Hezbollah’s leader after the death of the previous leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has previously stated his commitment to fighting Israel, but specific plans of action have remained unknown. Zheleznov’s announcement may be the first public hint that the organisation is moving from words to concrete military action.

The situation on Israel’s northern border remains tense after a series of incidents, including recent IDF strikes on Hizbullah facilities in Lebanon and rocket attacks from Lebanese territory. Experts suggest that Qassem’s statement, if officially confirmed, could lead to an escalation of the conflict, especially against the backdrop of the fragile truce reached with the mediation of France and the United States.

So far, neither Hezbollah nor Lebanese officials have commented on the information published by Al-Manar. The Israeli military, in turn, has increased its presence in the northern parts of the country, preparing for possible provocations. Will Qassem’s words be the beginning of a new wave of confrontation? The answer to this question may appear in the coming days, and the world is holding its breath as it watches the developments in the region.
