Over the past week, soldiers of the 810th Brigade under the command of the IDF’s 210th Division conducted a special operation on new areas of Syria’s Hermon Mountains, one of the highest and most strategically important points in the region. The goal is to identify terrorist infrastructure, neutralise potential threats and seize enemy equipment.

During the operation, which was conducted jointly with the elite Yahal engineering unit , the military managed to discover enemy military equipment and an explosive device weighing several tens of kilograms. According to the command, this discovery could have caused a large-scale terrorist attack in the region.

“We operated in difficult weather and geographical conditions, at high altitude, but the result was worth the effort. This is another step towards the destruction of the terrorist threat near our borders,” the army said.

Mount Hermon, located on the border with Syria and Lebanon, has long been an area of increased attention – both from Israel and hostile groups. Its peaks are used as observation and strategic points, and can also serve as a springboard for sabotage.

The Israeli army has stated that such operations will continue, as the protection of the residents of the Golan Heights and the northern borders remains a priority.

This is not the first time that militants have attempted to set up fortifications or hideouts in Syria’s Hermon. But as the experience of recent days shows, the IDF intends to act proactively – quickly, accurately and without compromise.
