British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce a large-scale aid package for Ukraine and new sanctions against Russia. According to The Telegraph, citing government sources, the official announcement will take place on 24 February, the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

A “triple blow” to Russia

According to sources, the package of measures will include:

1. Military assistance to Ukraine –new types of weapons and support for the Armed Forces.

2. Tougher sanctions against Russia,in particular against oligarchs who support the Putin regime.

3. Fighting Russian “dirty money”in Britain – intensifying investigations into the financial flows of Russian businessmen.

“In Whitehall, the plan has been described as a ‘triple whammy’ to underline Britain’s unwavering support for Ukraine,” The Telegraph writes.

Confrontation with the US: a challenge for Trump

The newspaper also notes that such actions by London are in direct contrast to the position of US President Donald Trump, who recently called Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator” and called for a quick end to the war.

“Starmer will challenge Trump by demonstrating Britain’s willingness to act decisively where the US is indecisive,” the source said.

Trump has previously criticised allies for being “passive” on Ukraine, claiming that London is “doing nothing” to end the war.

Details of the upcoming aid package

The content of the new package has not yet been finalised, but is expected to be:

The British Ministry of Defence will presentan updated list of military aid to Ukraine.

Supporting Ukraine is a priority for London

The new aid package is yet another confirmation that the UK remains one of Ukraine’s main allies in the fight against Russian aggression.

“24 February will be an important date to demonstrate the West’s determination to support Kyiv,” said a British official.

Soon the world will find out how powerful Britain’s “triple strike” against Russian interests will be and whether it will affect the course of the war in Ukraine.
