On the evening of Wednesday, 26 March 2025, Russian troops launched a powerful attack with combat drones in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region. The attack left at least four people injured in Kharkiv, and four more in the village of Zolochiv, where a drone hit a residential building. The number of casualties continues to rise, and rescue services are working to eliminate the consequences.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the city had been hit by at least 12 drone strikes within one hour. The attack caused significant damage: residential buildings, cars and outbuildings in several districts of the city were damaged. “All relevant services are already working to eliminate the consequences of the shelling of Kharkiv,” Terekhov said, emphasising the prompt response of local authorities.
According to the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, four people were injured in Kharkiv: A 14-year-old girl, a 25-year-old man, a 70-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man. A fire broke out at a civilian non-residential infrastructure facility in the Kyiv district of the city as a result of the strike. Specialised services are currently working to extinguish the fire and eliminate the consequences.
Another tragedy occurred in Zolochiv, Kharkiv region, where a Russian drone hit a residential building. Among the victims was a 14-year-old girl who was hospitalised in serious condition. A 26-year-old man, a 67-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were also injured. In addition, four local residents suffered an acute stress reaction due to the attack.
The attack on Kharkiv and the region was another episode of escalating hostilities in the region. Local authorities are urging residents to be careful and follow safety rules during air raids. Damage is currently being assessed, and law enforcement agencies are recording further war crimes by Russian troops.
