Kryvyi Rih is in mourning. The city bids farewell to three innocent victims of another Russian attack – 7-year-old Arina, her grandfather Sergey Samodin and 17-year-old Nikita Solonichenko.

The tragedy occurred on 4 April, when a rocket exploded on a warm spring evening in a playground. Sergei Samodin, a firefighter who had spent his life saving others, was just walking with his grandchildren. Arisha and her grandfather were killed on the spot. Her cousin Yaroslav is now fighting for his life in a hospital in Dnipro.

“Beautiful and smiling,” they say of Arina. The whole community cannot hold back their tears.

Nikita Solonichenko, 17, is a student at a motor transport college. That evening he was walking with his friends. He was struck and his life ended.

His uncle, who serves with the boy’s father at the front, could not contain his emotions:

“We went to serve from the very beginning. But we did not think that we would be the first to bury our children…”

These names cannot be forgotten. Arina, Sergei, Nikita – three pure hearts, three destroyed lives, three pains that will not subside.

A blessed memory. It hurts.
