Already tomorrow, August 2, residents of Lviv will be able to see the first of twelve KT4D model trams, which were handed over to Lviv by Berlin, on city routes. This first tram will start operating on route #3, and the next day, August 3, another new tram will appear on route #6. This was reported in the Lviv City Council.
All the trams that Lviv received from Berlin were converted in the car repair workshops of Lviv Electrotrans to meet the city’s technical requirements. By the end of August, it is planned to release two more trams of this model on the routes.
Volodymyr Kovaliv, head of Lviv Electrotrans, emphasized that route No. 3 is one of the most convenient for Lviv residents. He noted that drivers and passengers are already familiar with the KT4D model, and that in recent years it has gained great popularity among city residents.
“Our drivers and passengers already know this model and have grown to love it in recent years. These trams will operate on routes No. 3 or No. 6, and by the end of August, we plan to release two more “Berlins” on the route,” said Volodymyr Kovaliv.
Also, according to Kovaliv, together with the trams, Berlin transferred spare parts to them, which will make their maintenance much easier. In addition, these trams are energy-saving and consume 2-2.5 times less electricity than existing cars, which will allow the city to save on electricity.
This renewal of Lviv city transport is an important step in increasing the comfort and efficiency of public transport, and will also contribute to reducing the load on the city’s energy system. This is reported by the Lviv City Council.
