Massive attack of the Russian Federation: Ukraine shoots down six Iskanders and 71 Shaheds

Kyiv, 12 February – Russia has launched a new massive attack on the territory of Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and attack drones. Several regions were affected by the attack, but Ukrainian air defences once again demonstrated high efficiency, shooting down most of the air targets.

Scale of the attack and air defence response

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian troops attacked from 19:00 on 11 February, releasing:

Six “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles (S-400) were launched from the territory of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation and the occupied Crimea.

123 Shahed-type attack UAVs andsimulator drones from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces were involved in repelling the attack. As a result, it was destroyed:

6 Iskander-M missiles

71 Shahed attack drones

40 enemy imitator drones werelost without any negative consequences.

Regions under attack

The Russian attack affected Kyiv, Dnipro (Kryvyi Rih), Sumy, Poltava and Chernihiv regions.

In particular, destruction was reported in Kyiv, and one person was killed and four injured, including a child, in the Obolon district. In Mykolaiv region, the wreckage of a downed drone caused a fire at an infrastructure facility.

Despite the massive air attack, Ukraine’s air defence system proved its strength once again. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the military, most of the enemy targets were destroyed, preventing even more destruction and casualties.
