On the night of 7 March 2025, Russia carried out another large-scale combined attack on the territory of Ukraine, using various types of missiles and attack drones. The main target of the attack was the country’s gas production facilities and critical infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 261 air targets were detected and tracked during the attack:
– 67 missiles of various types, including:
▪️ 35 X-101/X-55cm cruise missiles,
▪️ 8 Kalibr missiles,
▪️ 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles,
▪️ 4 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles,
▪️ 8 X-59/69 guided missiles.
– 194 strike UAVs, including Shahed kamikaze drones and various types of simulators.
Air defence was provided by air defence units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare equipment, and fighter aircraft, including F-16s and, for the first time, French Mirage-2000s, which arrived in Ukraine only a month ago.
Results of the night attack (as of 10:00):
134 air targets were destroyed, in particular:
– 25 X-101/X-55cm cruise missiles,
– 8 Kalibr cruise missiles,
– 1 X-59/69 guided missile,
– 100 Shahed attack drones.
Additionally, about 10 missiles failed to reach their targets, and 86 simulated drones were lost without causing any damage.
This attack was one of the largest since the beginning of the year, and the first combat deployment of French Mirage-2000 fighters was an important event in strengthening Ukraine’s air defence.
The defence forces continue to work hard to protect the country from Russian massive attacks aimed at destroying energy and critical infrastructure.
