One Hundred Israeli Fighter Jets Strike Hezbollah Rocket Launchers

On Sunday morning, the Israeli military announced a large-scale airstrike involving approximately one hundred aircraft that targeted and destroyed thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers. The operation was in response to a significant drone and rocket attack by the Lebanese group, according to The Times of Israel and AFP.

In response, Hezbollah declared the completion of its assault after launching “a large number of drones” and “over 320” Katyusha rockets at 11 Israeli military bases and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Lebanese group stated that the attack was retaliation for the death of one of their military leaders during an Israeli airstrike on Beirut on July 30.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, an Israeli military spokesperson, stated that the operation by the Israeli Air Force began “shortly before 5:00 AM.” According to Shoshani, around one hundred aircraft struck thousands of rocket launchers located in 40 firing zones in southern Lebanon, which were aimed at northern Israel.

Shoshani emphasized that Hezbollah was preparing a large-scale assault, and Israel acted defensively to eliminate the threats. He noted that Hezbollah’s barrage was part of a broader planned attack, and Israel managed to thwart most of it on Sunday morning.

Despite the intensity of the bombardment, Israeli officials have assessed the damage as minimal. “We are still assessing the aftermath of the attack, and there are still fires,” Shoshani said, “but I can tell you that the damage on the Israeli side is minimal.”
