In 2025, Ukraine plans to reach record levels in the production and acquisition of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are critical to the successful fight against Russian aggression. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence held on 9 January at the US air base in Germany.

Drones are a key weapon to deter the enemy

President Zelenskyy stressed that the main task of the Ukrainian military is to stop the advance of Russian troops and minimise casualties. Drones play a central role in this.

“Drones restrain the enemy, they keep him at a distance,” the President noted.

According to Zelenskyy, UAV production in Ukraine is not only cost-effective, but also has the potential for large-scale development due to the experience of Ukrainian specialists and the high demand for this technology.

Production records and partner support

The Head of State said that a significant number of contracts for the production of drones had already been signed, and more were being considered. In 2025, Ukraine plans to set records in terms of the number and quality of UAVs that will be manufactured in the country and supplied by international partners.

A call for investment in Ukrainian drones

The President called on the participants of the meeting to actively invest in the production of Ukrainian drones, emphasising the unique experience of our country in their use and development.

“Ukrainians have the most experience in Europe in the use of drones and we have the largest capacity in Europe to produce drones. Therefore, invest more in this Ukrainian strength, because after the war, it will also become your strength,” Zelenskyy stressed.
