His campaign was built on a staunchly anti-immigration, Eurosceptic, and pro-Russian platform. Kickl aggressively attacks his political opponents, employs conspiracy theories, and openly maintains his radical stance on issues like the pandemic, immigration, and support for Ukraine.
Despite his sharp and provocative approach, Kickl has managed to gain significant electoral support by addressing concerns that resonate with Austrian society, particularly in light of economic difficulties and inflation. However, the question of whether he will become Austria’s next chancellor remains uncertain, as other political leaders, including current Chancellor Karl Nehammer, categorically refuse to work with him due to his radical views and conspiracy-laden statements.
