British Foreign Secretary David Lammy is meeting with European diplomats on Monday, 12 May, to coordinate further steps to support Ukraine and strengthen defence cooperation on the continent. This was reported by Reuters.
The British Foreign Office stressed: “This is an existential moment for Europe’s security. The threat we face goes far beyond Ukraine.”
The talks in London are attended by representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and the European Union. It is expected that Lammy will announce a new package of sanctions against individuals and entities involved in supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine.
These diplomatic consultations precede Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s summit with EU leaders on 19 May. At the summit, Britain plans to sign a new defence agreement with the EU and improve trade relations after Brexit.
