The United Kingdom and Ukraine are preparing to sign a historic agreement that will last 100 years and significantly strengthen military and economic cooperation between the countries. The agreement is expected to be signed during British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to Kyiv on Thursday, the British government said.

One of the main components of the agreement is the creation of a special database to support Ukraine’s efforts to combat grain theft in the Russian-occupied territories. The UK has developed a new system for tracking stolen grain, which will allow it to be traced and sold. As noted, such a database will be an important tool in the fight for global food security, as Ukraine is one of the world’s key agricultural suppliers. The UK Secretary of State for the Environment will hand over the database to Ukraine in the coming weeks.

In addition, the agreement will significantly strengthen military cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the area of maritime security. It is planned to create a new structure to strengthen the security of the Baltic, Black and Azov Seas, which is an important step in deterring Russian aggression.

The document also envisages the development of scientific and technical partnerships in areas such as healthcare, agro-technology, space research, and unmanned technologies. One of the main goals of the agreement is to strengthen friendship between the countries through joint training projects and support for Ukrainian innovations.

The UK will also become a priority partner for Ukraine in the energy sector, strategic minerals and green steel production. The agreement will allocate an additional £40 million to help Ukraine’s economy recover, creating new opportunities for British companies and businesses focused on the green economy.

These funds are in addition to the £12.8 billion of aid already allocated, of which £7.8 billion is military support. Thus, the agreement will be an important step in the development of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the UK for decades to come.
