Russia remains “open to dialogue” with Ukraine, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated at a briefing on Monday, July 1. Journalists asked him to comment on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks regarding possible negotiations with Russia through intermediaries.
“Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is open to any communication and dialogue aimed at achieving all the goals we have set for ourselves. We maintain this openness,” Peskov said.
He also noted that information from Belarus about Ukraine allegedly amassing troops and equipment near the Belarusian border is causing concern not only in Minsk but also in Moscow.
When asked if Moscow is ready to assist Minsk in the event of “provocations from the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Peskov responded that Belarus is a “union” state with which Russia has special formats of dialogue across all relevant agencies, including special services.
“Our defense ministries are in constant partnership contact,” he added.
