On Tuesday, 10 December, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk plans to have a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This initiative is aimed at discussing current issues, including the upcoming negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

As Tusk noted before the meeting of the Council of Ministers in Warsaw, Poland, as the country holding the EU presidency in the first half of 2025, will be responsible for the EU’s political agenda. This includes issues related to Ukraine’s integration. He stressed the importance of working actively and quickly to ensure the successful progress of this process.

Priorities of the Polish EU Presidency

Today’s meeting of the Polish government will officially approve the key areas that will guide Poland during its EU presidency. It is expected that one of the important focuses will be on supporting Ukraine in its European aspirations and strengthening regional security.

Ukraine, which is engaged in an active dialogue with the EU on membership, relies on the support of key partners, including Poland. The conversation between Zelenskyy and Tusk could help coordinate positions ahead of possible winter negotiations on EU enlargement.

This initiative demonstrates the deepening of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation and Warsaw’s readiness to actively promote Ukraine’s integration into European structures.
