Elon Musk, one of the world’s most influential businessmen, is once again in the spotlight for his latest initiative, which involves paying millions of dollars to registered voters in the United States. A court in Pennsylvania, headed by Judge Angelo Poliata, has allowed Musk to continue his activities, which include “giving money away” to voters who support Donald Trump, Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing Israel’s Channel 7.
The move has sparked widespread debate and criticism among politicians and experts who fear that such actions could affect the transparency and integrity of the upcoming US presidential election. Musk said that until 5 November, the election day, he plans to give a daily prize of one million dollars to randomly selected registered voters in states with an unstable political situation, such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan and North Carolina.
Musk’s actions have already provoked numerous calls for a review of campaign finance legislation to prevent the use of private funds to directly or indirectly influence voters’ choices. For now, the legal framework allows for such activities, which critics say could jeopardise the foundations of the country’s democratic process.
