EU to provide €3.5bn to Ukraine in March: von der Leyen on support, weapons and sanctions

The European Union continues to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience, as the security of the whole of Europe depends on it. In March, Ukraine will receive €3.5 billion in EU assistance.

This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during an international summit in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

The main points of von der Leyen’s speech:

  • EUR 134 billion is the total amount of EU support for Ukraine.
  • The financial assistance of EUR 3.5 billion will be disbursed in March.
  • Europe is accelerating the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
  • Expansion of sanctions against Russia: The 16th package is being prepared.
  • The EU is integrating the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova into a common market.
