The Group of Seven (G7) countries have once again reaffirmed their readiness to continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance in its fight against Russian aggression, no matter how long it takes. This is stated in the official statement of the G7 leaders, adopted on the initiative of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who chairs the group.

The statement emphasises that the G7 countries will stand in solidarity with Ukraine in its efforts to restore sovereignty, freedom, independence, territorial integrity and rebuild the country. The leaders also noted that after 1,000 days of war, the Ukrainian people continue to demonstrate unbreakable resilience and determination in defending their land, culture and people, despite the enormous suffering they are enduring.

“We acknowledge the enormous suffering endured by the people of Ukraine, but despite these difficulties, Ukrainians have demonstrated unparalleled resilience,” the document says.

In addition, the G7 leaders reaffirmed that Russia remains the main obstacle to the restoration of a just and lasting peace. They reiterated their readiness to continue to put pressure on Russia through sanctions, export controls and other measures that cause serious economic losses to the aggressor state.

“We are united with Ukraine,” the G7 leaders conclude.

The Group of Seven includes: Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
