Internally displaced families in Ukraine have been given the opportunity to take out a loan from the State Agency for Housing and Urban Development at a fixed rate of 3% per annum for up to 30 years. The minimum down payment will be only 6% of the cost of the selected housing. This decision was made possible by the approval by the Council of the Council of Europe Development Bank (EBRD) of an additional €150 million for two housing projects in Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Finance reports.
Additional funding for housing programmes
European financial support includes:
- EUR 50 million to implement a new project that will provide housing for 1460 Ukrainian families in 2025 on affordable terms.
- 100 million euros under the HOME project : Compensation for Destroyed Housing, which will provide more than 2,000 housing certificates. This will allow about 5,700 Ukrainians to receive compensation for their lost homes.
HOME programme: compensation for losses
The HOME programme operates throughout Ukraine and is aimed at helping people who have lost their homes as a result of the war. The additional funding of €100 million will help cover a significant part of the compensation needs of citizens for destroyed housing.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine emphasises the importance of international support for the restoration of the country’s housing stock and calls on citizens to take advantage of financing programmes to provide themselves with new housing.
